La Solitaire du Figaro: Leg 2
I'm a 3-digit guy. As always, my personal goals are modest.
My time is limited. I still have a day-time job (no complaints about that) barely! I am still able to race on real wet water one or two times a week (no complaints about that either)!
So, for me, finishing 999th or better is ambitious enough.
As I tacked off on to port this afternoon, I was closer than I have ever been to a two-digit finish.
Maybe even a single-digit finish was within reach.
I had to go back to work, so I turned the helm over to Otto for the last 31 miles.
He let me down once again.

How come you didn't come out of the blocks with a spinnaker set? That's what us leaders are doing. You're already in my wake.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It was a no-brainer. Now you're not dead meat, but you are UNDISTINGUISHED!
ReplyDeleteI had counted on the fleet being headed by a wind veer and went unnecessarily high. 60% of this leg may turn out to be completely boring.
ReplyDeleteAll of a sudden, this morning, things are looking better for the home team!
ReplyDelete8.4 kts per hour - impressive !! Thank goodness I'm back on the graph :)
ReplyDeleteNo Going Back
Congrats on passing Tovaritch RKN !!!
ReplyDeleteShe didn't stay passed. Any idea as to how we're going to get any sleep to night?
ReplyDeleteYeah, but I see you in 99th place!
ReplyDeleteThat didn't last either...
ReplyDeleteYou are going to wake up ahead of P.N. & D.F.T.! Unless you screw up!
ReplyDeleteI think they both struck l'Ile de Groix. N.P. was under spinnaker when I woke up. Still have a quandary ahead. Where is Paula when I need her? She know this geography. (Back to bed.....)
ReplyDeleteHi Doc,
ReplyDeleteI stayed asleep and woke up this morning on the beach. No damage done to the boat, thank goodness. My new ambition is to stay on your graph!!
No Going Back
Come on! Extend the chart down to 10,000! That's a round number!
ReplyDeleteOtto? Who's Otto?
ReplyDeleteOtto's last name is Helm. You know him.
