La Solitaire du Figaro: Leg 2

I'm a 3-digit guy. As always, my personal goals are modest.

My time is limited. I still have a day-time job (no complaints about that) barely! I am still able to race on real wet water one or two times a week (no complaints about that either)!

So, for me, finishing 999th or better is ambitious enough.

As I tacked off on to port this afternoon, I was closer than I have ever been to a two-digit finish.

Maybe even a single-digit finish was within reach.

I had to go back to work, so I turned the helm over to Otto for the last 31 miles.

He let me down once again.

  1. How come you didn't come out of the blocks with a spinnaker set? That's what us leaders are doing. You're already in my wake.

  2. I agree. It was a no-brainer. Now you're not dead meat, but you are UNDISTINGUISHED!

  3. I had counted on the fleet being headed by a wind veer and went unnecessarily high. 60% of this leg may turn out to be completely boring.

  9. You are going to wake up ahead of P.N. & D.F.T.! Unless you screw up!

  10. I think they both struck l'Ile de Groix. N.P. was under spinnaker when I woke up. Still have a quandary ahead. Where is Paula when I need her? She know this geography. (Back to bed.....)

I stayed asleep and woke up this morning on the beach. No damage done to the boat, thank goodness. My new ambition is to stay on your graph!!
