Truth is, I overslept by 30 minutes. Otto took the helm based upon my superficial analysis made sleepily two hours (?) before. It's all down hill from here, for sure!
Of course I'm worried, Paula & Bella! What with all of the go-fasts, the stakes are that much higher for each 'bare-boat' I lose to. I can't sleep! Even my wide band melted down last night. This is no way to live!!!!!
I'm beyond embarrassment, Gerry. Study the fate of Vigilant, my first boat, which is still on the rocks of Scatarie Island. See my plunge (Orange line on chart)! Running aground is what I fear the most!
Vlad, I don't and I sleep at least 8 hours per night. See my track ! Well, it's certainly not the best way to make a great score, but at least I enjoy.
I don't have an explanation. I wish I had gotten a screen shot. I didn't believe my own eyes at the time, seeing him go from under 50 to 1300 to 1600 and then 2000. I figured he had missed the mark and that he was done. He had a strange answer when I queried him. Maybe that's what happens when you go "stealth"? But Nayard is back this morning where one is accustomed to seeing him!
Dinty went invisible, too, for a while. But all I missed were a couple of data points.
My thanks go to Gilliano who tried to warn me by email about my disaster. I will endeavor to return the favor should an opportunity arise in the future.
Despite staying up late and plotting a course to leave plenty of clear blue water between me and the land, I still ran aground. I checked my position on Google Earth and it put me firmly in the water. Boo Hoo!!
I'm presently trying out the Beta version of the Seven Star Around Britain and Ireland Race and the coastline maps are a huge improvement - almost as clear as GE.
Still making my way to the bottom of your chart Doc...
Well, well, well. I finally made it, but also passing by the ground. At 00:00 my time, when I went to bed, my plotted course should have led me straight in, with an ETA of around 04:30. Hopefully, I had a bad dream around 03:00, woke-up and grrrr, red flag, but the game interface showed me still on water. Time to make a 135° turn fo a few minutes and start again, I lost around thousand places............
Congratulations to all who finished this interesting Leg.
I had thought I had smooth sailing in finishing this leg. But it was really not safe to go work yesterday! I have not rid myself of the Scatarie Island Curse. I think I will have to race the 7-Star around UK & Ireland!

ReplyDeleteIt's nice to be nr 1 at least once. But at that heading, you'll have to tack sometime. Then our tracks will cross..............
ReplyDeleteYeah. I have relieved Otto.
ReplyDeleteHow does one get VRTools or Paco Tool? Are they free or do they set you back $30?
ReplyDeleteI had to trust Otto to take the helm on the first mark rounding. He really muffed it. But I had no alternative. Had to go to work sometime!
ReplyDeleteYour complaints fall of deaf ears of those of us who don't sail good enough to get on your chart!
ReplyDeletePaula, I think I got you now. We 've equal arms, I mean no options. Not like the Master Doc. But I'll desperately try to get him too.....
ReplyDeleteGerry, don't cry. BTW what's your boat's name ?
ReplyDeleteGerry, nobody isn't good enough to play the game !!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bella,
ReplyDeleteYep, Doc has all the toys but still enjoys the challenge. I'm taking my lead from you and Seamigo NNN. Do you think Doc's worried? :)
No going back
Paula, why would he be (worried) ? He must be busy whith his spinnaker !!!
ReplyDeleteOf course I'm worried, Paula & Bella! What with all of the go-fasts, the stakes are that much higher for each 'bare-boat' I lose to. I can't sleep! Even my wide band melted down last night. This is no way to live!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying which boat I have. I'm too embarrassed!
ReplyDeleteIf Seamigo NNN shows her on this page she can be included in the next race's chart.
ReplyDeleteI'm beyond embarrassment, Gerry. Study the fate of Vigilant, my first boat, which is still on the rocks of Scatarie Island. See my plunge (Orange line on chart)! Running aground is what I fear the most!
ReplyDeleteHow many here are using VRTools? Fess up!
ReplyDeleteLocked out for 90 minutes..... :-(
ReplyDeleteOh Dear! I played safe and slowed the boat fearing I'd hit the buoy during the night. Looks like I over corrected. Obviously no VRTool here!
ReplyDeleteVlad, I don't and I sleep at least 8 hours per night. See my track ! Well, it's certainly not the best way to make a great score, but at least I enjoy.
ReplyDeleteDoc, seems there is something wrong with "Paul Nayard" on your graph.

Hey Doc, what the hell happened to you ? You took your turn too steep ?
ReplyDeleteSadly. Set the damned waypoint to close to the rocks! Pisseurrrr!
ReplyDeleteThe next chart should be very entertaining!
ReplyDeleteI expect I'll be spending the night on the rocks :(

ReplyDelete... and a bit of sleep Bella! I had sweet dreams and slept straight through till my alarm went off in time to get me up for work.
ReplyDeleteSee y'all Monday for the Around Britain and Ireland race - there are a lot of nice improvements in the game!
.............but I'm still ahead of you, Paula. By the way, where do you get that Beta version ?
ReplyDeleteBella, 'still ahead' means that you got to the Clubhouse first. Mine's a G&T!
ReplyDeleteHere is the beta version link
