You have slipped considerably but you are still looking good. I'm betting your port tack start will prove not to have been your best choice. Won't know until around noon...
I'm not from California but Dublin, Ireland and my place is usually at the bottom of the table. Sometimes I even fall off altogether... But it's all about taking part, right?
This is a deep game. Nayard caught me at the pin and led by four boats going away. Then I noticed something, and tried it. With 10 minutes I had caught up with him. Nayard's a smart, smart guy, and I bet he's watching and going to cover me. I don't think he's reading this. And if anyone is, please don't ruin it for me by cluing him in! (Loose lips sink ships.)
It's 0200hrs here for me and I'm turning it over to Otto. Let's see how he does. We're in 433rd place; where will we be when I wake up?
Thx Belladonna. I wasn't as smart as I thought I was and Paul Nayard reminded me of that by beating me by a lot more than a handful of boats. Going invisible didn't do the trick either.
Looks like you're coming on with a strong finish! However, I hope you don't mind too much if I root for No Going Back. Paula and I go way back!
Thanks Doc! Nearly there now... I overshot the turn in the early hours of the morning and lost thousands of places. You snooze - you lose. I picked up a few places during the day so won't be at the bottom of your chart this leg :)
I was watching you all day and even copied some of your moves... until you disappeared. Nice finish (again) Doc!
Doc, for now I'm just trying to understand "blogging" and how it works. So, be a little patient. But check my blog from time to time. BTW, do you read french ?
I am very patient. At my age, I have to be. I passed my high school French classes, but I lost it because I never traveled. But I think I can think in French. Well, maybe I can only feel in French.... Please don't five up on me?
I'm in 1st! Everyone notice?

ReplyDeleteYeah, I thought starting on starboard was indicated. I thought I nailed it, I just don't understand how Belladonna made out like under 400th place.
ReplyDeleteWhat Belladonna did shouldn't bother you now. You just passed her.
ReplyDeleteOK I found ya.Are al of you californians ? I'm from Brussels, Belgium.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I don't know myself how I got under 400 for a short while !!!
Glad you found us! I'm not speaking for anyone but myself: I am a Californian.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be posting a Performance Chart tonight. It will be very revealing! It will prove who won the start! I think you must have gone off on Starboard?
You 're right
ReplyDeleteWhat a Klutz! Being late on the spinnaker hoist cost me 300 boats.

ReplyDeletePaula
Ah! That's why I'm so clumsy! Paula's not up here where she can show me the way. What's up with that?
ReplyDeleteHey Doc! You must have nerves of steel!!I'm waiting to see when you change direction and blow the leaders out of the water.
ReplyDeleteNo going back
Yeah Paula. I hit the ceiling at 303 and now am bouncing back from 303!

Nah. I'm not that smart. I see a fatal flaw possibly. But I'll hang in there. Lead Paul by 7 now. Take it Otto!
ReplyDeleteDidn't work. Trail by 8. Shoulda gone invisible. What was I thinking? Doing that now.
ReplyDeleteI can't see you anymore now, but I think you finished something between 300 & 500. Good job !
