On the master schedule
the next leg is the next to last leg. But you never can tell in this race. I've been fooled before. A two-day celerbration is planned at the end of the leg. That would suggest to me that this 2,350 mile leg is the final leg and the end of the race.
Whatever the case may be, I will contend in my current yacht, Spectator Boat, sailing in the Virtual Regatta version of this race. Start is Today. I'll be ready.

Doc I think we will still have another 2 legs to go after this one, but I've also been wrong many times before.
ReplyDeleteJuly 7th - Londonderry to Dan Helder (Netherlands)
July 18th or 19th, Dan Helder to London.
Good luck and fair winds to all
Thanks, Fuk!
DeleteCopied from older post. For info !
ReplyDeleteHi there, I'm back. I traveled a bit these last weeks, that's the reason for not showing on Doc's blog and also for bad results due to poor and uneasy internet connexions.
In a few hours we'll restart our Clippers for a W to E transat to Paula's NGB country. Doc, will you start a new post for this x&nth leg ?
See you soon ang fair winds to all !
Doc, why this sudden south east heading ? Do you know something that we don't ? Or are you cheating ???
ReplyDeleteDoc plays a deep game.
DeleteI just came up on deck. Otto's been at the helm. Whassup? Looks like Fukitol is way ahead. Also, Contiguous. But I's passing a few boats here and there.....
DeleteI'm back too. Missed that start but working hard to catch up :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back into the fleet, Paula! You're at 1734 already! Won't take you long to catch up!
DeleteDoc, You asked - why have I been away?
ReplyDeleteIt's not that I don't love you it's my busy life, these silly virtual boats and your selection of a light colored type face on top of a dark blue background. The color contrast puts a stress on the eyes plus the font you selected is a bit wiggly. I know - picky, picky.
My busy life includes my getting in line for a new "full hip replacement" at the end of July - only 'cause I'd like to walk straight. I can't believe how many appointments and tasks pile up knowing a deadline date is approaching.
Now let's see if you can crank up Spectator Boat and climb the leader board!
I'm thinking I'll change my boat name back again. "Spectator" is so not me. I missed the last wind line, so I can't get any more unlucky than that.
DeleteGood luck, OTOH with that hip replacement. I know a few guys who report great satisfaction with theirs. I'm sure you're going to ask yourself why you didn't do it earlier. That's the way it was with my double partial knee replacements.
Yep - when I realized I was putting off certain trips etc I decided it was time to go for it especially when you hear such positive stories about great results. I'm looking forward to all sorts of great things - ie sailing and golf etc.
DeleteSo no more talk of spectator this or that. It's time to open a container or two and roll on through the waves, rail down and in the groove. Fair winds!
So Doc, not a spectator anymore back to being a container then.!!
ReplyDeleteThe thought of a new hip seems to have spurred Contig on in this leg(pardon the pun), when he get's it done I bet there's going to be no catching him.
My comeback has peaked out at 624th. It won't get any better for me this leg. I am disappointed. But no longer a spectator!
ReplyDeleteBucketol - this leg is getting a bit closer by the moment. Looks like you may have to stay up 24/7 if you want to squeak in ahead of Contiguous. On the other hand we are entering your home waters so I'm more than a little nervous - especially when I like to sleep through the night. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteHi Contiguous, well it would seem I've taken a bit of a chance with my course as yourself and all the other big hitters have gone higher, only time will tell. Good luck and see you for drinks in the bar, first in buy's all night. (that's just to slow you down, he he).
DeleteLet the record show that Fukitol is just ten boats ahead of Contiguous! 226-236! Close as it is, I don't see many passing lanes. So, make sure you have your credit card with you when you go to the bar, Fuk!
DeleteI'm counting on Buckital falling asleep at the helm. He's obviously been up for over 24 hours and he is therefore very groggy and out of it....we can always hope.
ReplyDeleteThe only passing lane may show up if the weather change is slightly off from what MP is predicting. Cross your fingers.
I've been checking the tide charts and they are not helping me much. Oh well.
What happened Cont ? Did you fall asleep or were you screwed to your binoculars looking at Fu..... and not seeing the rock under your bow ????
ReplyDeleteI wasn't going to mention that Belladonna, didn't want to rub it in and no Contig I had a good nights sleep thanks, also went back to sleep this morning till this afternoon so I would be fresh for the party tonight as I didn't want to miss out on all the booze!!!!
DeleteOK Futol, thanks for the details. I'm a little late for the same reason as you, sleep. But hopefully I'll be there for the happy Hour tonight. Cheers !
DeleteNo Going Back... late again :(
ReplyDeleteYou did'nt catch me in the end this time !!!
DeleteYou're always worth the wait, Paula. The party didn't get going until you arrived!
DeleteWas a nice party y'day nite ! Got a little headache !!!
ReplyDeleteAnyone want to do the Tour de France à la Voile? I'm doing it!
ReplyDeleteNo thks, the VOR last leg is starting tomorrow and the Clipper penultimate on next saturday and I'm leaving for 15 days in Turkey on Monday the 9th where I don't know if I'll find Internet connexions. So relax for a while !!!
DeleteEverybody know is going to Turkey. Everybody with a real life. Everybody with a balanced life.
DeleteNext leg of the clipper starts July 7th at 18:30 game time (16:30GMT)
ReplyDeleteGood luck to all.
Comments on Virtual Sailing are re-directed to the final leg of the Clipper Race.
